About the GAC

In October 2008, after more than ten years as an independent partnership of the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) and the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC), the GAC formally joined the Centre for Effective Practice (CEP). This decision coincides with CEP's approval to become a federally incorporated, not-for-profit organization.

This newly amalgamated organization, the Centre for Effective Practice, is the first of its kind in Canada: an independent interprofessional body with strong academic links dedicated to identifying, validating and promoting best practices in primary care throughout Ontario and beyond.

As a leading source for guideline evaluation for more than a decade, the GAC brings an internationally recognized approach to assessing evidence and guidelines. Combined with CEP's strength in dissemination, practitioner engagement and behaviour change, the new organization is uniquely positioned to address clinical care gaps by providing effective, practical interventions.
